Hop aboard one of the city’s historic cable cars for a trip up and down the hills of San Francisco. Take some time to visit the diverse neighborhoods in The City – Haight-Ashbury, North Beach, Japantown, the Marina District, to name a few.

The history of the city of San Francisco really started with the California Gold Rush which brought gold seekers from all over the world to the city and led to a major population explosion that turned the once tiny settlement into the largest city west of the Mississippi. On April 18, 1906, San Francisco was struck by a major earthquake, resulting in a devastating fire that all but destroyed the city. But, rebuilding of the city began quickly, and today, San Francisco is considered to be one of the greatest cities in the world.
